The Boy Scouts held an aquatic camporee Nov. 16 and 17. Attending the event were about 100 boys from Hamakua, Kohala and Kona, representing Troops 1, 15, 26, 31, 56, 59, 79, 84, 140, 96 and 131. Kalani Nakoa of the Sea Scouts provided the Kinikini sailing canoe, a highlight of the event. Other activities included swimming, fishing, snorkeling and friction-fire making.

Boys from sixth grade to 18 years old can join the Boy Scouts. The Sea Scouts is a part of the Boy Scout organization and is open to boys and girls ages 14 to 20. For more information about either program, call the Boy Scouts of America, Aloha Council at 959-0079.
