Kona Potters Guild in Honaunau is holding its annual holiday sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2.
The latest works from Carole Carroll, Ina Koch, Ru Carley, Alysia Samaru, Joyce Monsky and Linda Savell will be showcased. The artists combine Hawaiian-inspired colors, textures and motifs with a variety of clays and techniques to create iridescent raku, porcelain underwater scenes and functional high- and low-fire stoneware. Refreshments will be served during the event.
The guild is headquartered on the lower level of the Society for Kona’s Education and Art building between mile markers 105 and 106 on Mamalahoa Highway. The studio will stay open through December. Call 328-9665 for more information.

Anela Strings Dec. 1
Anela Strings will be in concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus, 19-4074 Old Volcano Road, Volcano Village.
The inspirational holiday performance, “Anela Strings, Music of a Higher Place,” will feature the harpist duo Kristin Aria Shaw and Irminsul creating a harmonious marriage of the harp’s ancient and stirring sound with heart-thumping percussion and expansive electronic vistas. Their unique musical approach creates a tether from the here and now to the “Everywhere.”

Volcano Art Center plans December events
Niaulani Nature Walks — guided rain forest tours — are held at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and at 11 a.m. Saturdays. The hourlong walks take visitors through an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest on an easy, 1⁄7-mile loop trail where they are introduced to the native plants and birds of Volcano. Guides focus not only on the biological, ecological and geological features of the area, but also the native Hawaiian cultural uses of flora and fauna. The walks are free and held at the Niaulani Campus, 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village.
Every Friday is “Aloha Friday” at the Volcano Art Center Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include a free, hands-on demonstration in a cultural craft. The events are free, but park entrance fees apply.
Kahula O Nawahine Noho Puukapu, under the direction of kumu hula Ana Nawahine Kahoopii, will perform from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 15. This outdoor presentation, part of an ongoing hula kahiko series, takes place rain or shine at the hula platform located near VAC Gallery. The audience is encouraged to bring sitting mats. Hands-on cultural demonstrations are planned from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the same day at the gallery. The event is free, but park entrance fees apply.
