Bernard “Popi” Kenji Adachi, 76, of Mountain View, died Oct. 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Nov. 5, 1935, in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired firefighter from the Honolulu Fire Department Waianae Fire Station Engine 26 and a Korean War Army veteran.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Nov. 24 at Carlsmith Beach Park Pavilion in Keaukaha for a celebration of life potluck gathering. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Dorothy Adachi of Mountain View; son, Arthur (Gina) Adachi of Mountain View; daughters, Alyshia (Vic) Garcia of Waianae, Oahu, Aly Adachi of Mountain View; brother, James (Florence) Adachi, of Kaneohe, Oahu; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
