Richard Helmick

Richard R. Helmick, 85, of Hilo died Oct. 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Minatare, Neb., he was a retired attorney, certified public accountant and member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ in Honomu for a 2 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Ilah Helmick of Hilo; sons, Peter (Sandra) Helmick of Waimea, Eric (Terry) Helmick of Idaho Springs, Colo.; daughters, Barbara (James) DeJarnette of Colorado Springs, Colo., Elsa (Stephen) Wolff of Morrison, Colo., Sarah (David Staley) Charles of Kealakekua; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
