Big Island police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred early Thursday in Hilo.
Around 12:30 am, a 63-year-old Hilo man reported that he was walking along Puueo Street when he was confronted by a man who pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet, according to the Hawaii Police Department. The suspect fled the area on foot toward Downtown Hilo.
The Hilo man not injured in the incident, according to police.
The suspect was described as being Polynesian, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with a stocky build, according to police. He was possibly wearing a light colored “hoodie” over his head.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident as a second-degree robbery.
