Waiakea’s Tevin Nakashima and Hilo’s Briahna Brooks were the top Big Island finishers at the 49th state high school bowling championships.
The two-day tournament was held Thursday and Friday at Kauai Bowl.
Nakashima placed eighth, rolling games of 213, 152 and 223 on Friday to finish with a 1,707 pin total.
Other top Big Island Interscholastic Federation boy bowlers included: Kealakehe’s Harley Jarvis, 28th at 1,565; Konawaena’s Rodney Torres, 35th at 1,540; BIIF champion John Kaipo of Waiakea, 48th at 1,484; and Konawaena’s Conrad Hildebrand, 49th at 1,469.
Pearl City swept the boys and girls titles, with Waiakea finishing sixth in each competition.
Mililani’s Ronson Dagdag, who had a high game of 244 on Friday, claimed the individual title with a 1,933 total.
Brooks placed 23rd, rolling games of 194, 199 and 142 on Friday for a 1,453 total.
Leilehua’s Kacee Taniyan won the girls individual title, with 1,700 total, including a 239 high game on Friday.
Other top BIIF girls included: Waiakea’s Chelsey Mitsuda, 34th at 1,403; Hilo’s Kylie Fujiyoshi, 41st at 1,368; Konawaena’s Madison Staup, 44th at 1,356; and Kealakehe’s Tiffany Kurozawa, 45th at 1,343; and BIIF champion Brooke Caseria of Waiakea, 47th at 1,333.
