Big Island police are asking the public’s help locating a man suspected of theft from elderly victims and two men wanted on warrants.
Nicholas Stevens, 42, is suspected of contacting elderly women at their homes in Hilo and Kona, persuading them to hire him to repair their driveway, collecting money in advance and then failing to complete the jobs, according to the Hawaii Police Department. He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 166 pounds with a thin build and a tan complexion. He may be in Hilo or Kona.
Justin Gryde, 22, of Pahoa, is wanted on five $5,000 warrants, according to police, who are also looking to speak with him in connection with a burglary. Gryde is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo with the name “Gryde” on his neck.
Mario A. Espino, of Ka’u, is sought on four bench warrants for contempt of court and violating terms of probation relating to convictions for theft and auto theft, according to police. He is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 2 inches, weighing 130 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his arms and back. He is most likely in the Ocean View area.
