Sandra Napua Lei Smith, 59, of Mountain View died Oct. 3 at her residence. Born March 4, 1953, in Pearl City, Oahu, she worked for the Hawaiian Natural History Association as a historian at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and was a hostess and store clerk at Ken’s Pancake House and Uncles Billy’s Hotel.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Nov. 10 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View for a 10 a.m. Mass. A potluck and fellowship follow at Puhi in Hilo.

She is survived by husband, Anson Smith of Mountain View; sons, Hoku (Corrie) Young of Pearl City, Oahu, Valen (Jiko) Yamaguchi of Kalapana; daughters, Anslyn Smith of Glenwood, Tinlyn (Gregory Ono) Smith of Pahoa; parents, Tin Hu Jr. and Helen Young, both of Oahu; brothers, Billy Young and Marcus (Tom) Young, both of Oahu; sister, Lehua (Roger) Gunner of Montana; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
