West Hawaii-based Sgt. Bradley Freitas on Thursday was recognized as Hawaii Police Department’s 2012 “Top Cop” by the Law Enforcement/Security Coalition of Hawaii.

West Hawaii-based Sgt. Bradley Freitas on Thursday was recognized as Hawaii Police Department’s 2012 “Top Cop” by the Law Enforcement/Security Coalition of Hawaii.

Freitas is a 22-year veteran of the department and current commander of Kona Patrol’s Special Enforcement Unit, a four-person unit tasked with reducing calls for service by using intelligence, crime analysis, informants, enforcement and coordinating with other police department sections.

The award was presented at a luncheon held Thursday at the Manoa Grand Ballroom on Oahu.
