Alfred Obina, 89, of Hilo, died Sept. 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was a retired parts department sales clerk for Hilo Motors. F

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home for a 10 a.m.. Burial is at noon at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by son, James (Jan) Spencer, of Los Angeles; daughters, Fran (Richard Harms) Matsumoto, of Los Angeles, Frances (Gary) Sagun and Sharon (Cleighton) Pang, both of Oahu, Francine (Harold) Kamoku, Mapu (Charles) Kama, April (Wayne) Kamohai and Ilima (Kapoe) Cazimero, all of Hilo; brothers, Gilbert (Mary Lou) Obina, of Haaula, Edward (Sor) Obina, of California; sisters, Helen (Joseph) Faisca, of Hawi, Lucy Crivello and Mildred Obina, both of California, Dora (William) Zemke, of Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
