Members of the Lions Club of Kona worked on a civic improvement project Saturday. It took more than 15 volunteers to build and paint five wooden picnic tables and 12 concrete benches.
The benches and picnic tables will be donated to schools and parks in West Hawaii, including Kona Pacific Public Charter School in Kealakekua.

The Lions Club of Kona has roughly 65 members and meets on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at Teshima’s Restaurant in Honalo. Lions clubs consist of groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
