Benedicto “Benny” Kayampat Villaverde, 85, of Honolulu died Oct. 6. Born Dec. 19, 1926m in Onomea, he was a retired Hawaii Army National Guard first sergeant, member of Hawaii Musicians’ Union and its board of directors, vice president emeritus of the local union and longtime director of Hawaii State Senior Softball, inducted into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2000.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15 at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary-East Chapel on Oahu for a 9:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at 11 a.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery. He is survived by wife, Nancy Villaverde of Honolulu; daughters, Patricia Gorelangton of Honolulu, Denise Wong of Kailua, Oahu, Andrea Berezoski Kansas, Lisa LaPorte of Plano, Texas; sons, Kelly Villaverde of Kailua, Oahu, Barry Villaverde of Belton, Mo., Brian Villaverde of Colorado, Mark Herman of Kona; sisters, Raymonda Duhinio of Pennsylvania, Dolores Hayes of Texarkana, Ark., Lourdes Allenegui of California, Paula Todd of Hilo; brothers, Vince Villaverde of California, Juan Villaverde of Las Vegas; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
