Big Island police have arrested a 48-year-old Mountain View man in connection with a murder that occurred earlier this year in Puna.

Big Island police have arrested a 48-year-old Mountain View man in connection with a murder that occurred earlier this year in Puna.

On Jan. 28, the body of 52-year-old Robert John Leong was found at a home in the Eden Roc subdivision of Puna, according to the Hawaii Police Department. An autopsy determined the victim died from a combination of ligature strangulation and a brain injury from a gunshot wound.

At 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section arrested Walter Boyd Bremmer on suspicion of second-degree murder in connection with the investigation. Bremmer was also arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and use of a firearm in commission of a separate felony. He remains in the Hilo police cellblock as detectives continue their investigation.
