Augustine “Sonny” Ferreira, 85, of Hilo, died Sept. 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 29, 1927, in Hakalau, he was retired from Hilo Coast Processing Co., an World War II Army veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Sept. 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at 11:30 a.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by sons, Allen (Norma) Ferreira, Jaime (Chris) Ferreira and Rilan (Leah) Ferreira, all of Hilo, Gordon (Marcella) Ferreira, of Honolulu; daughter, Wendy (Llewellyn) Lee, of Hilo; brother, Joseph Ferreira, of Hilo; sisters, Alice (Isamu) Yoshida, of Mountain View, Beatrice Jarneski, of Kauai; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
