The annual candlelight peace walk in Kailua-Kona is a grass-roots recreational activity without any connection to any organization, said Scarlett O’Hara Bill, of the Friends of the Candlelight Peace Walk, which started the event in 1985. In conjunction with its Kona Peace Day activities, the Pacific Rim Education Foundation helped publicize and promote this year’s walk, said Farley Jones, the foundation’s director.
