Obamacare

War being waged
is hypocracy

The war against millionaires, billionaires and big corporations of America is one of the many hypocrises of President Obama. And to have his administration and the Obama campaign attack successful businesses no matter their size, and the men and women behind them and the many workers they employ, the president is out of step with what is to be a nation of opportunity. He even attacks “mom and pop” stores and other small businesses with his deceitful taxation policy especially under Obamacare.

It must be reiterated that $716 billion “stolen” out of Medicare to Obamacare is one-third of the Medicare budget. This would not only deny care that seniors and baby boomers worked so hard to achieve and secure for themselves, it would destroy the very foundation of Medicare. And Obama, in part, blames the millionaires, billionaires and corporate America for this.

The hypocrisy of this is that many of the president’s big time donors are the very entities he is waging war against. And by so doing, his war goes beyond this and threatens the very foundation the United States was established on the principle of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” America is the only nation in the world that citizens and legal immigrants have equal opportunity to pursue their dream.

The United States of America does not deny the rights of Americans to strive for the best they can become, but encourages the very best in all Americans.

Sick and tired

The article in the Sept. 15 issue of West Hawaii Today titled “Driver in multiple fatality released on bail” made me want to vomit. I am sick and tired of reading articles about impaired drivers killing or injuring other drivers, passengers and pedestrians. I am especially sick and tired of the weak judicial handling of repeat impaired drivers.

What is wrong with Judge Glenn Hara who released Alfred Berdon III so that he can again drive drunk and ruin countless more lives. The recounting of Berdon’s record is horrifying.

It is true that jail/prison does not cure alcoholics/drug addicts who repeatedly get behind the wheel. Sobriety only starts when they hit a hard bottom, but it does keep them from endangering the innocent and may help them hit that hard bottom. Rehabilitation can begin in jail/prison.

I was a deputy sheriff in Colorado and early on in my service I responded to a head-on collision between a van and a pickup truck. When I arrived on scene, I found a grandmother and granddaughter burned to death in the back of the van. The only thing left was ashes and bone. The driver that hit them head-on was a repeat impaired driver and alive. I never wanted to see such carnage again and took my job of finding and jailing impaired drivers as a priority.

Fortunately, the judges where I served also worked hard at keeping those people off the roads. I have had enough of judicial leniency.
