Hawaii County Fire Department personnel rescued two people who were swept out to sea near Keokea Point Sunday morning.

A sudden surge caused a 9-year-old boy and a man in his 30s to be swept into the ocean. A nearby bystander removed the boy from the water, but the man was still in the water when crews arrived at 10:38 a.m., according to the Fire Department.
