Mr. Spitzenbergers letter on Sept. 14 showed a tremendous depth of understanding. For years I have said that this country needs a revolution. Unfortunately, because of the size of the U.S. it will never happen, just as he said.If the states were sovereign and had complete separation from each other it could work.
One can just look at Europe since the European Union, what a disaster that turned out to be. Countries are slowly loosing their identity and culture and their economies because of the influx of foreigners that now also belong to the EU and immediately qualify for the dole. Also, of course, the banking disasters that come right back to the U.S. That pipe dream of the One World Order will never work. Unfortunately everything has gone so far that there seems to be no return.
As for the two-year — mayor, governor, congressman — he forgot lobbyists. That’s when they get the big money for themselves and for the politicians they buy, and the rest of us are screwed.
Yes, it would be nice if we would send the right people to Washington. Unfortunately, the ones that would be worthwhile sending are not interested in going through the ridiculous fundraising, super PACs and kissing okoles of the big corporations.
Right now, the best and only thing we can do on the local level is to vote for right people to send to Washington, like he said. Not much of a consolation.

South Kohala police doing good job
I would like to take a moment and thank the Hawaii County Police Department South Kohala Station, its officers and staff for investigating and solving the rash of burglaries that recently happened in the village.
Their focused effort and personal dedication to keep the “villagers” safe is remarkable. When you realize how much area there is to cover in the district and the number of officers per shift, we are grateful and thankful for all of their hard work.
Special thanks to Community Police Officer Kristi Crivello, and her guidance in helping us form the Waikoloa Community Neighborhood watch led by Skip Hickey. This is one more step we can take to care for each other, making Waikoloa Village a safe place to live, work and play.
