People who have lost loved ones to suicide gathered for a candlelight vigil in their honor Friday evening at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Kailua-Kona.
The all-volunteer, 15-member Prevent Suicide West Hawaii Task Force organized the free event, which was in conjunction with National Suicide Awareness Week. The goal was to help attendees cope with their loss and receive support from others with similar experiences, as well as spread a message of prevention to the community.
