Support goes both ways
Hawaiian Airlines wishes public support in their quest to do a Japan run (Sept. 7). This is the same Hawaiian Airlines that all but prohibits interisland flights to see my aunty in Oahu with fares that in some cases top $150 one way.
I am all for a business profiting and I have enjoyed many safe and on-time flights aboard its fine 717s.
I think it safe to say nearly all of us do and are supporting Hawaiian Airlines, some several times a year. And for that support, I would like to ask Hawaiian Airlines to please consider supporting us, the hotel and customer service people, restaurant workers and less-than-wealthy folks who might work two or more jobs to fly between islands to see our aunty. Support is a two-way street.

Konawaena pool
The fix isn’t in
The Konawaena Pool is so cold. Why hasn’t the solar heating been fixed yet? It has not been working since January. That is more than eight months.
I have called the mayor’s office so many times, and each time I get the run around and am told to try this number and that number.
I leave messages, but nothing is happening. No one was burdening the mayor with this, either.
I have talked to Bobby Command, who is supposed to be his helper, all to no avail. He offered to have the head of county Parks and Recreation call me.
Now, why would I need to listen to another story? I just want our county pool’s solar system working.
Billy Kenoi promised me at the July bon dance at the Hongwanji, in Kealakekua, that since he now knows of this, he would get it fixed. When can we expect some action?
It’s been a cold summer and the pool water is not warm, not at all. The swimmers shiver, the teachers suffer.
Come on, Mr. Mayor, you promised.

Conservative comment
Intellectually naked
I am always amazed when someone exposes themselves in public like Sheila Mason in her Sept. 7 letter “A shot to the liberal left.”
It is like undressing in public, what you see underneath is not pretty.
