None made by WOC in Waimea council race
Waimea Outdoor Circle recently learned that Pacific Resources Partnership, PAC used a photograph of one of our volunteer members and Sonny Shimaoka at the Waimea Nature Park with the Waimea Outdoor Circle sign and logo in the background on two separate campaign advertisements endorsing Mr. Shimaoka.
Pacific Resources Partnership PAC printed and mailed the flyers to random Hawaii County residents without the knowledge or consent of Waimea Outdoor Circle, or the member shown in the photograph.
We are sending a letter to Pacific Resources Partnership requesting a retraction.
Waimea Outdoor Circle is an apolitical nonprofit 501c(3) organization that never endorses any political candidate or party.
The implication that Waimea Outdoor Circle is endorsing Mr. Shimaoka for County Council is false and goes against the policies of both The Outdoor Circle and our own branch, Waimea Outdoor Circle.
On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to apologize to the community, our membership and the other three County Council candidates for the District 9 seat for any problems or confusion this photograph may have caused.

Crediting teachers
No parent can take the credit for their children’s success alone.
As I feel the joy from the many comments I have received from friends and family after watching my son, Dylan Nonaka, recite the Pledge of Allegiance on the stage of the Republican National Convention, I take pause and realize there were many others who helped to create this amazing young man.
First and foremost, I think of the teachers and support he was given at the school he attended, Konawaena Middle and High School. This wonderful school had a huge part in the success of this young man.
He had many teachers who went over and beyond their scope of duty to give this young man the education and confidence he needed to reach the heights he has reached. My heart felt thanks go out to all of you, teachers and staff, at Konawaena Middle and High School for all the help we were given in raising this young man.
Please share in the pride and the honor this young man has given us here in Hawaii. God bless you all.
