Advancement Via Individual Determination seeks volunteers to facilitate weekly tutoring sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kealakehe High School.
Tutors are essential to the AVID elective class. They encourage student success in advanced courses, giving them the support and confidence needed for achievement. AVID brings out the best in students and helps to close achievement gaps.
Training is provided. College students may tutor as part of a work-study program. Call Connie Simon at 327-4300, ext. 2436 or email connie_simon@notes.k12.hi.us.
Seniors group
meets Wednesday
The Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Members will be playing bocce on the lawn, and should bring either a sandwich or a snack to share.

Cancer support group meets Thursday
You’ll Never Walk Alone, a cancer support group, meets from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Cancer survivors and co-survivors are invited to attend the group’s free meetings held the first and third Thursdays of the month; light refreshments are served.
