A 36-year-old man was rescued Friday morning after apparently becoming lost while hunting Wednesday in a forested area near Mauna Loa Estates in Puna.

The man was located about 40 minutes after Hawaii Fire Department search teams began their second day of searching in the area, according to the department. The man had left around 9 a.m. Wednesday to hunt for pigs.

According to the department, the man had apparently became disoriented in thick fog and vegetation consisting of ohia trees and large hapuu ferns. Despite two days in the elements, he reported no injuries and was in good medical condition.
