Kona police late Thursday arrested a 25-year-old man reportedly caught in the midst of burglarizing an unoccupied Alii Drive residence.
The man, whose place of residence was unavailable Friday, was arrested when police responded to a reported burglary at a home off Alii Drive between Lunapule and Walua roads, according to the Hawaii Police Department. An alarm at the residence apparently triggered the police response.
He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree burglary and two counts of fourth-degree criminal property damage and then released pending further investigation.
West Hawaii Today is not naming the man because he has not been charged with a crime.
