Kailua Kona’s Johnson Construction Inc. has built a new garden storage shed for the Hualalai Academy’s garden program.

This month, Johnson donated material and labor to construct a garden shed at the school that will house the school’s landscape supplies and equipment.

Hualalai Academy began its garden program more than 15 years ago when it moved to the Kealakaa campus. The garden originally began as a club for interested students of Dan Sabo, third grade teacher. Since that time the garden program has grown and changed. There are multiple gardens on the campus of Hualalai Academy that have different purposes and plants.

The new storage shed, with some material provided by Honsador Hawaii, will allow the school to purchase additional equipment and have a secure place to store this equipment and other garden supplies.

While recently earning the honorary distinction of Best Contractor in West Hawaii 2011, Johnson Construction gives back to the community whenever possible.
