Kailua-Kona’s Bree Wee won the women’s title and finished 11th overall at Sunday’s Ironman Louisville.
Wee finished the race in 9 hours, 36 minutes, 27 seconds to edge Jackie Arendt, who finished in 9:38:14.
Wee took control on the bicycle leg of the race. She finished the 2.4-mile swim 3 seconds ahead of Arendt, but Wee finished the 112-mile bicycle leg in 5:12:18, more than 3 minutes better than Arendt’s time. Arendt closed in on the 26.2-mile run, but Wee held on for first place.
Patrick Evoe of Austin, Texas, won the race. He finished in 8:42:44. Chris McDonald of Carlsbad, Calif., took second in 8:52:59
