Soroptimist International of Kona will meet at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Royal Kona Resort. Habitat for Humanity’s AnnMarie Muramoto will be the event’s guest speaker. Guests and prospective members are welcome.

Redress petition is topic for meetings
Hawaii Aloha Aina presents an educational event regarding the petition for redress of grievances in recognition of the wartime convention of Jan. 17, 1893, which suspended hostilities between the Hawaiian Kingdom and the United States of America, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mahina Cafe in Captain Cook. A question-and-answer session is also planned.
The event will be repeated from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 3 and 10 at the restaurant located at 82-6123 Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook.
Prepaid vouchers to the event are available for $10 and include tax but not gratuity. The voucher for a bento includes teriyaki beef, Korean chicken, Spam, namasu, two balls of rice and canned juice. Contact Mahina Cafe at 323-3200 to purchasing prepaid vouchers for the event.
Anti-aging lectures planned
Dr. Shanhong Lu will give a free lecture on anti-aging at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Aloha Center for Spiritual Living, 73-4080 Hulikoa Drive, Kailua-Kona. She will lecture again from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Barrie Rose’s Waiaka Homestead Meeting House, 66-1664 Waiaka St., Waimea.
Lu will explain how toxins and stress impact the body and what can be done to counteract these destructive forces.

Queen Liliuokalani Canoe Race the topic of Hanohano lecture
The Kona Historical Society will present “The Culture of the Canoe — He Inoa No Liliuokalani — In the Name of Liliuokalani” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.
Hannah Springer, joined by local canoe club coaches, will lead the Hanohano O Kona lecture series presentation about the Queen Liliuokalani Canoe Race, the largest long-distance canoe race in the world.
The lecture, presented in cooperation with Hawaii County, is free and open to the public.
Look Good, Feel Better registration held
Registration is now being accepted for Look Good, Feel Better, a free program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients in active treatment. The session offers help with the appearance related side-effects of radiation or chemotherapy and tips and tricks for wigs, scarves and other head coverings. Make-up is included.
The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 at Tutu’s House, located in the Kamuela Business Center, 64-1032 Mamalahoa Highway No. 304.

St. Augustine bazaar seeks donations
St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Kapaau is holding its annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15. The event features ethnic foods, baked goods and crafts for sale, as well as white elephant and silent auctions. The thrift store will also be open.
