The plot revolves around nerdy Melvin Ferd III, who is thrown into a vat of toxic waste and emerges as a giant green mutant with superpowers. He uses his new powers to fight corporate greed and impress his new girlfriend. Production dates are Oct. 5 through 21.

Guest director David A Payne reunites Dr. Frank N. Furter and his minions for a revival of Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show,” which will play Oct. 25, 26, 27 and 31.
A spooky new adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” by Susie Burke, will run from Dec. 7 through 23. Ebenezer Scrooge will be dramatically reminded of the true meaning of Christmas in this family holiday diversion with an uplifting message.
Feb. 15 through March 10, APAC will present the greatest family musical of all time, “The Wizard of Oz,” in a production based on the Royal Shakespeare Company’s celebration of the 1939 movie, featuring all the classic songs, as composed by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg.
Paul Rudnick’s 1991 comedy “I Hate Hamlet,” guest directed by Victor Pisauro, will play April 12 through 28. Replete with seance, ghostly appearances and plenty of swashbuckling, this modern American classic will delight both Shakespeare fans and foes.
Sue Boyum brings another “Disney Junior” show to Kona audiences June 21 to 30 when she guest directs “Aladdin Jr.” This stage adaptation, which is streamlined and scored for younger performers, closely follows the original Disney film, and includes the number “A Whole New World.” The child-friendly musical features songs written by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Jim Luigs.
APAC concludes its 2012-13 mainstage season with “Women Behind Bars,” an adult comedy by Tom Eyen, running July 12 through 27. A campy spoof of the exploitation films of the 1950s, the show is set in the Women’s House of Detention in Greenwich Village, which is inhabited by an unusual array of female misfits and run by an indomitable matron.
