Joseph “Uncle Joe” “Mikey” Perreira, 83, of Hilo died Aug. 12 at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired park caretaker for the State of Hawaii Department of Land & Natural Resources.

Friends may call 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha, followed by a memorial mass at 10.

The family requests Aloha attire and no flowers.

He is survived by sons, Joseph Perreira of Hilo, Samuel K. Perreira of Kwajalein, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Jacob (Johnalyn) Hanohano of Hilo, Burton (Kathy) Hanohano of Hawaiian Beaches, Thomas (Rachelle) Hanohano of Hilo; daughters, Iris H. Roelse of California, Agnes K. Fesolai of Utah, Johndella “Tote” (Jeremy Medeiros) Perreira of Hilo, Isabel (Wendell) Vincent of Hilo, Leina (Sam) Hoopai of Hilo; 33 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.
