3.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Hamakua Coast

The U.S. Geological Service reported a 3.1-magnitude earthquake Saturday morning along the Hamakua Coast.
According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, the 7:31 a.m. earthquake was centered seven miles west-northwest of Kukuihaele, near Waipio Valley. The quake was about 17 miles deep. No tsunami was generated.
