A 31-year-old Kailua-Kona man wanted for allegedly escaping from a correctional facility is reported to be in West Hawaii.
A 31-year-old Kailua-Kona man wanted for allegedly escaping from a correctional facility is reported to be in West Hawaii.
Ryan James Jeffries-Hamar was reportedly seen Wednesday afternoon in Kainaliu and Wednesday evening in Kailua-Kona, according to the Hawaii Police Department. He is suspected of leaving from Hale Nani Correctional Facility on Tuesday.
The man is on extended furlough and does not reside at Hale Nani Correctional Facility but is required to check in monthly. He reportedly left the facility on foot without completing the check-in process, said Toni Schwartz, state Department of Public Safety spokeswoman. His criminal history includes burglary, theft and car theft, she said.
Jeffries-Hamar is described as Caucasian, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds with blue eyes and short reddish-blond hair, according to the department. He has a tattoo along his entire right arm.
Although Jeffries-Hamar is not considered dangerous, police warn the public against contacting him and instead advise them to call police.
