Kealakehe High council to meet Thursday

Kealakehe High School’s Community Council will meet from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the school’s staff cafeteria dining room.

The school’s field trip policy, recognition of students with perfect attendance and selection of 2012-13 SCC officers are on the agenda.

Snorkel day on Friday

Deep and Beyond, a ministry of Youth With a Mission — University of the Nations, is having its monthly snorkel day for people with disabilities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 17 at Kahaluu Beach Park. Bring a dish to share for a potluck lunch.

Camp Tarawa Detachment meets Saturday in Waikoloa

The Camp Tarawa Detachment 1255 of the Marine Corps League will hold its monthly meeting Saturday at Banjy’s Paradise Bar and Grill at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course.

A no-host lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by a business meeting at 1 p.m. All serving, retired or reserve Marines and Navy corpsmen and their spouses are invited to attend. Dress is resort casual.

for fitness challenge

Five Mountains Hawaii’s free 10-week, team-based healthy lifestyle challenge returns for a fifth year with an expanded, islandwide program.

Teams of four to 10 members may take part in the Get Fit Hawaii challenge. Up to 500 participants will receive free health screenings, set personal goals and work to achieve those goals and be eligible to win prizes.

One member of each team should attend a free training session. Two other members may attend as co-leaders.

Team member registrations are being accepted at getfithawaii.org.

Leaders receive additional resources, program information, coaching and gifts.

Training sessions are planned Saturday in Waimea and Aug. 25 in Kailua-Kona.

Potential team leaders unable to attend a training session, those wishing to register and anyone with questions may call Aileen or Ann at 887-1281.
