Bircher joins Lanihau Properties LLC
Lanihau Properties LLC recently appointed Amy Bircher as office manager/administrative assistant.
Bircher joined the company on July 1. Her responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the Kona office as well as a variety of other related tasks involving the company’s agricultural lands and development projects.
Bircher is a very enthusiastic, organized professional who brings substantial knowledge and familiarity with the Island of Hawaii to Lanihau Properties and its affiliates.
“Born and raised in Hawaii, Amy embodies a sincere understanding and appreciation for the culture of the islands and the importance of bringing together the goals of business and the community. Amy is a welcome addition to Lanihau’s land management team” said Riley W. Smith, president of Lanihau Properties LLC.
Bircher grew up on Hue Hue ranch in Kona. She is an active member of the Kona community and currently serves as a board member for Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii, a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. She also enjoys volunteering for other nonprofit organizations.
Bircher is a graduate of Hawaii Preparatory Academy and received her bachelor’s degree in communications from Sonoma State University in California. She currently resides with her husband and son in Kona.
Lanihau Properties LLC and Palani Ranch Co. are owned by the James M. Greenwell and L. Radcliffe Greenwell families. The companies’ diversified assets include various Kailua Village properties, lands at Honokohau and various mauka parcels managed by Palani Ranch. James S. Greenwell continues as Lanihau’s board chairman and chief executive officer as well as president of Palani Ranch Co.
Jackie Rey’s receives
award for wines offered
Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill, located in Kailua-Kona, has won an award of excellence for its wine list from Wine Spectator Magazine’s August edition.
For the third consecutive year, the restaurant’s 110 bottle wine list has won for its scope of choices available and also received a special designation for inexpensive wine pricing. The wine list is heavily weighted toward California wines and has more than 15 wines by the glass available.
The wine list is also designed to pair well with Chef Muzzy Fernandez’s cuisine by offering an assortment of whites and pinot noirs.
