The Gummy Bears, a Big Island girls fastpitch softball team, won the 14-and-under ASA Hawaii State Tournament, which took place June 30 and July 1 at Oahu’s Central Oahu Regional Park. The team went 5-0 in the 10-team double-elimination tournament, beating Mililani Prep 8-7 in the championship game. The Gummy Bears started the tournament by beating last year’s defending champions, Oahu’s Strikers, 12-6. They then defeated another Oahu team, Hookela Blue, 12-2, before topping Maui’s Lahaina 6-3 and Mililani Prep 6-3. Bottom row: Tierra Teves.
