On July 21, police responded to Hale Nani off Route 11 in Hilo after receiving a report that Ka‘u resident Dallas Wesley Runyon, 32, had left the facility without authorization.
Runyon is described as Caucasian with blue eyes, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds. He had a goatee and mustache and shoulder-length brown or blond hair, but may have shaved his face and head. He also has several tattoos, with the most prominent ones being a gargoyle on his right forearm, a dragon on his inner left forearm, and others on his right arm and both legs, according to police.
He may be in the company of a 50-year-old woman described as Caucasian, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair, police said.
According to police, Runyon is not considered dangerous. However, the public should still avoid contacting him and instead, if he’s seen, call Detective Joel Field at 961-2381. Those who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
