LAS VEGAS — Boise State has been made the favorite to win the 2012 Mountain West Conference football title followed by Nevada and Fresno State.

The Broncos received 27 of 30 first-place votes cast and a total of 296 points in Tuesday’s poll of reporters covering the league.

Nevada had 244 and Fresno State 231, including two ballots for first.

Wyoming was next with 213, San Diego State 173, Air Force 170, Hawaii 116, UNLV 63 and New Mexico 33. SDS garnered the other top vote.

Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr and Aztec cornerback Leon McFadden are the preseason picks for players of the year.

Nevada landed four on the preseason all-conference team — offensive linemen Jeff Nady and Chris Barker, defensive lineman Jack Reynoso and cornerback Duke Williams. No Rebels were picked.

This will be Boise State’s last season in the Mountain West. The Broncos will join the Big East Conference for the 2013 season.
