Big Island police have arrested Honomu resident Daniel Schuster in connection with a reported stabbing, which left a 30-year-old Honomu man dead Sunday. The Police Department has opened a homicide investigation.

Big Island police have arrested Honomu resident Daniel Schuster in connection with a reported stabbing, which left a 30-year-old Honomu man dead Sunday. The Police Department has opened a homicide investigation.

At about 6:18 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a Pua Street home in Honomu after receiving a report of a stabbing.

Responding police officers and Hawaii County Fire Department personnel discovered the victim within the residence with injuries and no apparent signs of life.

Police arrested Schuster, 49, at the scene and he remains in custody at the Hilo police cellblock while Area I Criminal Investigations Section detectives continue the investigation, classified as a second-degree murder.
