Jack Takahiro Konno, 86, of Hilo, died July 10, 2012 at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired as the Hawaii Division director for United Public Workers Union, was a charter member of Kinoole Baptist Church and a member of the Central Kawailani Kumiai. He was also a volunteer at the Life Care Center of Hilo.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 27 at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home for a visitation, followed by an 11 a.m. service.

He is survived by his sons Russell (Cheryl) Konno of Buena Park, California, Craig (Brenda Gabriel) Konno of Hilo; daughter Carlene Wilson of Kailua-Kona; sister Masako Abe of Maui; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Casual attire. No flowers. Arrangements by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home, Hilo.
