Two Kona men are dead following a motorcycle-versus-pickup truck crash late Friday on Highway 11, south of Captain Cook.

The men have been identified as 40-year-old Toby H. Ledward, of Kailua-Kona, and 33-year-old Clennard A. Sadumiano, of Kealakekua, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

Responding to the 9:15 p.m. crash, police determined Ledward was operating a southbound motorcycle on the highway when he apparently crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck operated by Sadumiano that was also headed southbound and attempting a left turn onto Kalamalani Place.

Ledward was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Sadumiano was not wearing a seat belt.

Both were transported to Kona Community Hospital and pronounced dead.

According to police, the motorcycle was speeding and alcohol may have played a factor.

Anyone with information on the crash should call Officer Joshua Lewis at 326-4646, ext. 229.
