Big Island police have charged a 20-year-old Pahoa man in connection with a reported June 27 burglary in Keaau.
Sepeti Alamti Tuaefe, also known as Joe Tuaefe, was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary, according to the Hawaii Police Department. His bail was set at $5,000.
Around 2 a.m. June 27 , police responded to a home on 14th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park after receiving a report of several men breaking into a house and assaulting a 19-year-old Keaau man, according to police. The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.
According to police, Tuaefe and the others reportedly fled the scene prior to the arrival of police, who issued an all points bulletin. Tueafe was arrested Wednesday morning and charged several hours later.
Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section are working to identify other individuals allegedly involved in this incident.
