Firefighters Saturday resumed efforts to extinguish a brush fire that has consumed about 400 acres off Hina Lani Street in Kailua-Kona.
The fire burned an area stretching north from Hina Lani to Hulikoa Road after igniting about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in vacant land north of Hina Lani’s intersection with Kamanu Street, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters were scheduled to monitor the fire throughout the night and quash any flare-ups, according to the department.
