Army Reserve Capt. Joshua J. DeJournett has deployed to Afghanistan to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners.

DeJournett is a civil military operations chief with the 426th Civil Affairs Battalion, Upland, Calif. He has served nine years in the military.

He is the son of Terry J. and Catherine R. DeJournett of Waikoloa.

The captain is a 1999 graduate of Rim of the World High School, Lake Arrowhead, Calif. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2003 from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.
