Martin Branco

Martin “Jackie” Branco, 89, of Hilo, died June 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 13, 1923, at Laupahoehoe Point, he was a World War II Army veteran, area salesman for Standard Oil Co., cattle rancher, mac nut farmer, bulldozer operator and member of Keaau Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Panaewa Kumiai Association and Chevron Retirees Association.

Friends may call at 7 p.m. July 2 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. July 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial is at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Rita Branco, of Hilo; sons, Jack Branco and Greg Branco, both of Hilo, William (Phyillis) Branco, of Waikoloa, Martin (Michelle) Branco, of St. Louis, Minn.; hanai sons, Alan (Linda) Parker, of Hilo, Analu (Brenda) Elliott, of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Marvellee (Calvin) Azevedo, of Hilo; hanai daughters, Elizabeth (Bill) Miller, of Kaneohe, Oahu, Eileene Waardenburg, of Oceanside, Calif.; brothers, Charlie (Lei) Branco, of Volcano, Manfred (Joanne) Branco, of Waimea; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; an aunt; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
