The main gallery of the Firehouse Gallery in Waimea will feature artwork by members of the Waimea Arts Council, depicting all aspects of the botanical world. The exhibit, “That Blooming Show,” will be on display from Wednesdsay to July 28. Paintings, drawings, photographs and works in mixed media that glorify the beauty and natural majesty of flowers, foliage, trees, vegetation and all things grown in the soil will be on display.
These works of art will represent the loveliness of native Hawaiian flora, as well as familiar, and not-so-familiar, images of plant life from other climes. The imagery of all things botanical has been a favorite with artists of different persuasions throughout time.
A reception for the artists, from 3 to 5 p.m. July 14, will include a memorial tribute toDolly Loo, Waimea Arts Council’s president emeritus.
Operated by the Waimea Arts Council, the Firehouse Gallery is located opposite the Waimea Chevron station at the intersection of Mamalahoa Highway and Lindsey Road. Free parking is available at the rear of the gallery behind the senior center, or beside Thelma Parker Gym. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, subject to the availability of docents. Call the gallery at 887-1052 for more information.
