“Awakening to the Deepest Truth of Who We Are: A Gathering with Gavin Harrison” is slated from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Waiaka Events Salon located at 66-1664 Waiaka St. in Waimea.

Sitting and walking meditation, talk, dialogue and inquiry are planned. Groups are nondenominational and open to all. Experienced and beginning meditators are welcome. Meditation guidance is offered. Bring a meditation cushion. Chairs are available.

Harrison accepts donations to cover his living expenses.

Fisheries council featured at meeting

Kawaihae Local Resource Council will host a presentation by the West Hawaii Fisheries Council from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Co. visitor’s center.

Representatives will help clarify the recent rule amendments relating to the conservation of marine resources contained in the current rules package.

According to Marni Herkes, some of these amendments are already in existing regulations and have been repackaged to improve enforcement.

This rule amendment package is not connected to public meetings currently being held by fisheries council in conjunction with the Kaupulehu Marine Life Advisory Committee regarding the Marine Reserve at Kaupulehu.

For more information, contact Herkes at marniherkes@gmail.com or call 987-2171.

Hamakua Macadamia Nut Co. is located on Maluokalani Street, off Akoni Pule Highway. Follow the yellow signs to the parking area.
