Printmaking class offered in Waimea

Printmaking class offered in Waimea

Waimea Artists’ Guild presents a five-day printmaking session with Native Hawaiian artist Harinani Orme from July 23 to 27. Classes will meet from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — with a one-hour break — at the guild’s studio located in the industrial complex adjacent to Mama’s House thrift store in Waimea.

“Currently, my works focus on the myths, legends and cultural identity of contemporary and ancient Hawaii,” she said. “Art gives new perspective, it inspires, it communicates, it records, it conveys emotion, it nourishes, it celebrates and fills the soul. It is how we find our voice, it is what we do, it is not an option, it is who we are.”

The class costs $300 including materials. Class size is limited. Call 887-2289 to register or for more information. For more about Orme, visit harinani.com.
