Sueko Higashi
Sueko Higashi, 95, of Honokaa, formerly of Manoa, Oahu, died June 7 at Hale Hoola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Ahualoa, she was a retired secretary for the Honolulu District Superintendent of the state Department of Education.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. June 22 at Honokaa Hongwanji Mission for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by sisters, Itsue Hino, Mutsuko Higashi, both of Honokaa; numerous nieces and nephews.

Arsenio “Uncle LC” “Pops” Julian Sr., 92, of Pahoa, died June 13 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 23, 1919, in Bo. Bugasi, Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a boiler room operator for Puna Sugar Co. and member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Friends may call at 5 p.m. June 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. June 23 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Walter “Satch” Pakele, 65, of Hilo, died June 3 at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 10, 1946, in Hilo, he was a taro farmer, artist, Big Island Sports Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the 1977 Softball Pitcher of the Year award.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park Section 4. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by companion, Carmen Moke, of Hilo; sisters, Eunice Hulama, Rachel Kuilipule, Isabel (George) Pua, all of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barry Bokmej
Barry Bokmej, 49, of Waimea, died June 4 at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 14, 1963, in Majuro, Marshall Island, he was a landscaper at Kukio and member of Bukot Nan Jesus Marshallese Church.
Friends may call at noon June 22 for an all-night vigil at Bukot Nan Jesus Marshallese Church in the old industrial area near Kona Self Storage. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. to noon June 23 at the church for a viewing, followed by burial at Naalehu County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

Paul Joseph Sorbets, 86, of Waikoloa, died May 10 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Tucson, Ariz., he was a retired orchardist, proprietor for Christmas Holly Gardens and World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by wife, Joan Sorbets, of Waikoloa; sons, Stevan (Nancy) Sorbets, of Vernonia, Ore., Gregg Sorbets, of Waikoloa; daughter, Shari (Andrew) Wilson, of Ammanford, Wales; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Ceasare “Chaz” Demetrius Kamakana Moses, 29, of Pahala, died June 4 at South Point, Ka‘u. Born Dec. 5, 1982, in Hilo, he was a 2000 graduate of Ka‘u High School, commercial fisherman and hunter, member of Pahala Holy Rosary Church, Team MakaBlur and Team Tremble Fishing Club.
