Woodturners meeting Saturday morning

The West Hawaii Woodturners, the local chapter of the American Association of Woodturners, meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the PacRim Tempering Building, 73-4260 Hulikoa Drive.

New members of all skill levels and guests are welcome. Those attending should bring a chair and lunch.

Breast cancer group meets June 26

The breast cancer support group that meets at Teshima’s Restaurant will get together at 7 p.m. June 26.

People newly diagnosed with breast cancer and survivors are welcome, as well as caregivers and family members.

Group members share cancer-related issues and offer encouragement.

Classic cars, tunes coming to Waikoloa Beach Resort

Waikoloa Beach Resort invites fans of classic cars and Motown to a day of fun, flashbacks and music June 30 when the resort hosts a classic car expo and a concert by A Touch of Gold.

“Cruise Paradise 2012,” Hawaii’s major classic car event, happens once every three years for a 10-day period and includes events for hot rod enthusiasts across the island. A free Show and Shine event, featuring more than 100 classic rides, is slated from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Queens’ MarketPlace.

A Touch of Gold takes the stage at 7 p.m. The group, which specializes in “Motown Hawaiian Style,” is a Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winner.

Admission to the concert — all general lawn seating — is $10 for adults; $5 for 13- to 17-year-olds; and free for those 12 and younger. Tickets are available at Persimmons in Queens’ MarketPlace. Bring a beach chair or mat; no alcohol is permitted. Doors open at 6 p.m.

I-Car and ASE-certified Duane Bullard, of Big Island Collision Center, will share different techniques that could help people save money on their vehicles from 7:45 to 9:15 a.m. June 27 at Island Naturals on Kaiwi Street.
