Korytoski has professional and collegiate coaching experience, serving two years as the Antigua Guatemala Futbol Club director/manager, two years at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Wright State (Ohio) as an assistant coach, a season as a St. Leo University (Fla.) assistant and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands men’s and women’s national team head coach/technical director.
“I want to develop a culture of execution, consistency and winning where guys enjoy being a part of the program,” said Korytoski. “People are going to see the integrity in which we will play.
“Integrity was defined to me a long time ago as what you do when nobody else is watching. Whether it’s the small details on the field, being a good student or being an honest citizen, all these things are very important to me.”
The Vulcans finished the 2011 season 2-13-2 and ninth in the Pacific West Conference at 1-10-1 in coach Bryan Green’s second season.
Korytoski becomes the program’s fourth head coach since its start in 2006.
In 2001, Korytoski was head coach of Penn State’s women’s club soccer national championship team.
Korytoski played at Santa Rosa Junior College (Calif.) and the University of North Carolina-Wilmington before graduating from St. Leo University in 2008.
As a head coach on the professional level, Korytoski fashioned a 38-10-13 record leading Antigua GFO to three cups and promotion in the First Division Professional Soccer League.
Park stumbles
at Manoa Cup
Pono Tokioka’s scorecard was bogey-free as he defeated Henry Park 4 and 3 to advance to the round of 32 at the Manoa Cup in Honolulu.
The golfers split the first two holes in match play at Oahu Country Club, but Park, a 2009 Kealakehe graduate and a former three-time Big Island Interscholastic Federation championship runner-up, fell behind for good when he bogeyed the third hole.
Tokioka, who finished in a tie for sixth at the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament in May for Kauai High, reeled off three birdies and an eagle over the next six holes and led 5-up at the turn.
