Family and friends honored Saturday a longtime firefighter who lost a 31⁄2-year battle with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer.
Gregory Scott “Greg” Cameron, 52, was a well known and loved member of the Big Island community. Born July 15, 1959, in Onaway, Mich., he was a Hawaii County firefighter, rescue specialist and paramedic stationed most recently at the South Kohala Fire Station. He died May 9 at his Waimea residence.
In celebration of his life, a public memorial service was held Saturday at Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area in South Kohala.
